Terms of Use
Effective July 26, 2026
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of this website, operated by Great Lakes IT Inc.. Please read them before using the site.
By accessing or using this website you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
1. These terms cover the website, not our services
These terms govern your use of this website only. They do not create a client relationship, and they do not govern the delivery of any service.
Where we provide services, those services are governed by a separate written agreement — a master services agreement, statement of work, managed services agreement or similar document signed by both parties. If anything in these terms conflicts with a signed services agreement, that agreement takes precedence for the services it covers.
2. Website content is general information, not advice
The content on this website — including service descriptions, articles, insights, frameworks, example engagements and any downloadable material — is provided for general information. It is not professional advice, and it is not a substitute for an assessment of your particular environment, risk profile, regulatory obligations or requirements.
Technology, cybersecurity and regulatory guidance depends heavily on context. Do not act, or refrain from acting, solely on the basis of anything you read here. Contact us, or another qualified advisor, for advice on your specific circumstances.
The case studies described on this site are clearly labelled as illustrative examples showing the structure of typical engagements. They do not describe identified clients, and they are not a promise or prediction of results for any other organization.
3. Service descriptions are not an offer
Descriptions of services, capabilities and solutions on this website are for information. They are not an offer capable of acceptance, and they do not commit us to provide any service, at any price, in any location, or within any timeframe. Availability, scope, pricing and service levels are set out in a written proposal or agreement.
4. Availability and accuracy
We work to keep this website accurate and available, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We may change, suspend, restrict or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice.
Content may become out of date. Product names, platform capabilities, standards and regulatory requirements change. Except where the law requires otherwise, we are under no obligation to update any content on this site.
5. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise indicated, all content on this website — including text, articles, graphics, illustrations, photographs, icons, page layouts, design elements, code and their selection and arrangement — is owned by Great Lakes IT Inc. or used under licence, and is protected by Canadian and international copyright law.
You may view, download and print pages from this site for your own internal, non-commercial reference, provided you do not remove any copyright or proprietary notice. Any other use — including reproduction, republication, distribution, public display, modification, framing, or incorporation into another work or into a machine learning training dataset — requires our prior written permission.
"Great Lakes IT Inc.", the Great Lakes IT Inc. logo, "WaveConnect" and our other names, marks and logos are trademarks of Great Lakes IT Inc.. Third-party names, product names and marks appearing on this site are the property of their respective owners, and their use does not imply endorsement or affiliation.
6. Acceptable use
When using this website, you agree not to:
- Use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that breaches these terms
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, or any connected system or network
- Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the site, or breach or circumvent any security or authentication measure
- Introduce any virus, worm, malicious code or other harmful material
- Interfere with the site's operation, or impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, including through denial-of-service activity
- Use any automated system to scrape, harvest or systematically extract content, or to collect email addresses or other contact information
- Submit false, misleading or deceptive information through our forms, or impersonate another person or organization
- Use our forms or contact channels to send unsolicited commercial messages
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble any part of the site
We may restrict or terminate your access to the site if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, and we may report suspected criminal activity to law enforcement.
7. Information you submit
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you send us through this website, and for having the right to send it. Do not submit confidential information, personal information about other people, credentials, or material subject to a confidentiality obligation, through our web forms. Contact us first and we will arrange an appropriate channel.
Information you submit through this site is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Communication over the internet is not fully secure, and a form submission does not create a confidential or privileged relationship between us.
If you send us unsolicited ideas, feedback or suggestions about our services or this website, you agree that we may use them without restriction, obligation or compensation. We will not treat them as confidential.
8. Third-party links and services
This website contains links to third-party websites, including research sources, vendor documentation and the websites of organizations we work with. We provide those links for convenience and reference. We do not control those sites, we do not endorse their content, and we are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, security or practices. Following an external link is at your own risk and subject to that site's own terms.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website. It forms part of these terms, and by using the site you acknowledge that you have read it.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, this website and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranty or condition of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory. We specifically disclaim all implied warranties and conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent the law permits, and nothing in these terms limits any right you have under applicable consumer protection legislation.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Great Lakes IT Inc., its directors, officers, employees, contractors and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profit, revenue, business, data, goodwill or anticipated savings, arising out of or in connection with your access to or use of this website, or your inability to use it, whether the claim is based in contract, tort (including negligence), statute or any other basis, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. Liability arising from the delivery of services is addressed in the applicable services agreement, not here.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Great Lakes IT Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, contractors and agents from any claim, demand, loss, liability, cost or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your breach of these terms, your misuse of this website, or your violation of any law or of the rights of a third party.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or with this website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it, without regard to conflict of laws rules.
You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario for the resolution of any such dispute, subject to any mandatory right you may have to bring proceedings in the province or territory where you reside.
This website is operated from Canada. We make no representation that its content is appropriate or available for use in other locations. If you access the site from elsewhere, you are responsible for complying with local law.
14. Changes, severability and general terms
We may revise these terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page. The effective date at the top tells you when the current version took effect. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be severed or read down to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and our Accessibility Statement, form the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of this website.
15. Contact us
